They have to go on

With fire in their eyes,
Fighting creatures to despise,
Our heroes continued on,
To the temple of evil spawn.

The throne with stones of color,
A stench of smelling odor.
Down they went along a rope,
In the dark, with only a grope.

They entered a room
Barely lit, a hazy gloom.
With mushrooms that let loose spores,
Our travelers shed light upon their cores.

Heroically they slew,
Searching rooms, how they flew.
Don’t touch the furniture among us,
For it turns into a fungus.

Hack and slay, it seemed all day,
Always wanting to go out and play.
For other things were on their minds,
To seek for treasure and other finds.

They met a mean old hag,
Four columns of metal slag,
Made from Platinum and Silver.
And even Gold that seemed to glimmer.

"Take them and leave", she said,
Or else you’ll wind up dead.
They didn’t know the witch’s joke,
To break the spell, the doors soon broke.

Back they trod, to the throne up high,
To reenter the lair, below the sky.
They searched around, to find the jewels,
And came across, some magical tools.

Moonfairye had tricks up her sleeve,
Just one more thing, and then they would leave.
She spotted something from a faraway land,
But ended up, a book stuck to her hand.

At first glance, it sure looked grim,
So she cast a spell to rid the limb,
Of its awful guest, a tome of magic,
Another place, and it would’ve been tragic.

You’d think this lesson, would have been learned,
Touching things, is a way to get burned.
She didn’t heed, these words you know,
And before her eyes, a monster did grow.
Hedrack they learned was commander supreme,
Priest of the temple, or so it seemed.
A minion of Iuz was he,
She had no idea, that Moonfairye

She had to have the chandelier,
For all to see, both far and near.
She gazed upon a silver statue,
And after her touch, the fire did spew.

Iuz just appeared, demigod most frightful.
He soon demanded, who had trifled?
Into his servants’ quarters, to call him forth?
Our heroes tried, for all their worth.

For they were to die, or so it had looked,
A frightful sight, and all were spooked.
A blinding light would soon appear,
A sound so loud, for all to hear.

St. Cuthbert appeared, out of the clear,
Proclaimed to all, "There is nothing to fear!"
"Iuz begone! Back to your lair go ye!"
"I’ll deal with this, so please, excuse me!"

With a poof of smoke, they took their fight,
To the ethereal plane, to flex their might.
A sigh of relief, our heroes expressed,
For they had been healed, and even been blessed.

Onward they resumed,
Though it seemed they were doomed.
For they encountered magicians, two,
And ogres, more than a few.

Hill giants were waiting, and began to fling,
Gargoyles were poised, high in the wings.
The wizards began casting,
It seemed everlasting!

They ran as they could,
For it seemed that they should.
To fight another day,
And make the evil ones pay!

Back to Gnolb they did trek,
They were in such a wreck.
They healed their wounds,
And began a new tune…

Tomorrow, a new day,
To finish this fray.
To rid our fair land,
Of this evil clan!
